You'll find several popular games that have been ported to Roku, but Donkey Kong is no longer one of them. Nintendo has shut down Donkey Kong Remake, which was available as a private Roku channel. Developer Marcelo Lv Cabral has stated that he won't challenge the takedown, and two other remakes from him, Lode Runner and Prince of Persia, are still available.
NBC is launching a new streaming service called "Premier League Pass." NBC will stream 130 live Premier League matches not aired on other NBC properties for $50 per season. Look for it on the NBC Sports Gold platform on oku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Chromecast, iOS, Android, and the web.
CenturyLink is entering the pay OTT market with CenturyLink Stream, which is currently in beta. The service provides live channels, video-on-demand, and cloud DVR service with a start price of $45 per month. It's available on Roku, Android and iOS devices, and PCs and Macs. A CenturyLink-branded media is also available for $90.
AT&T's DirecTV Now is adding dozens of local TV stations. Fortune reports that "starting next week, the service will add 30 more ABC local affiliates in cities including Atlanta, Dallas, and Boston. Four more NBC stations and the Fox affiliate in Juneau, Alaska, will also become available."
You might think that QVC is predominantly a cable TV player, but AdWeek reports that QVC has become successful with streaming audiences, and "nearly half its revenue is From ecommerce." "[F]ans aren’t just going to channel 14, or 70, or 509 on their TVs — they’re accessing QVC via mobile devices, its website, Roku and Apple TV, and Facebook." (Read more about QVC on Roku here.)
Vimeo can canceled planes SVOD service, previously set to launch in 2018, according to a report on tubefilter. Vimeo issued a statement saying that "Vimeo has confirmed that it has decided not to proceed in offering a subscription based original program service."
Engadget reports that antenna-maker Mohu "has upgraded its indoor Leaf antenna and the new version delivers a 65-mile reception range. That's up from the 50-mile range of the previous model." The paper-thin 21.5-inch by 11.5-inch Leaf Glide is available for $90.
