Quick Look: At first glance, Viaway Media appears to offer a different way to access the same podcasts that are available in other Roku Channels such as iTunes Podcasts and Nowhere TV. I suspect that the difference is that Viaway allows registered users to put podcasts into a queue that is also accessible from other devices. However, I was never able to test the queue feature because my Viaway wouldn't link to my Roku.
To link your Roku, you must first register at viaway.com/Activate. Registration requires you to provide your full name, e-mail address, a security question and answer, and the registration code from the Roku. Then you have to click a link in a confirmation e-mail to prove that you provided a real e-mail address. (There is also an option to login using your Facebook account, but I never trust third party websites that allow you to do that - I don't want every video I watch to be posted on Facebook without my knowledge.) After all that, you're told to select your plan. In addition to the free Basic plan there are Plus and Live & On-Demand subscriptions at various prices. I got my confirmation e-mail, and stayed with the free basic account but my Roku never linked up.
That's as far as I got. For now, I'm sticking with other options for getting these podcasts on my Roku. But I'm marking this channel for a full RokuGuide Review in the future. Assuming I can get the channel to link.
