Boom Slots is not actually a real channel... it's just a placeholder to redirect Roku users to a recently-updated version of the Boom Gaming channel. I sincerely hope that this is not a new trend. If every Roku channel update spawns an additional channel to inform users of the update, then we channel reviewers at RokuGuide.com will never be able to keep up. And do you really want to scan through channel after channel that simply redirects you to an old channel?

But I digress - let's get back to Boom Slots. Once you redirect to Boom Gaming, you will have to create a free Boom Gaming account through the Roku channel, create a free account at the Boom Gaming website, or log into an existing account if you have one. Once logged in, you can play any of nine variations of bingo or go to Boom Slots.

Boom Slots offers four games, only one of which - Jackpot Slots - offers slot-machine-like play. The other three games are Rapid Bingo, a game in which all of the Bingo numbers are played within a couple of seconds; Pull Tab, which consist of six sets of three symbols that give you points if you get matching symbols; and Match 3, a lotto scratch-off style of game where nine symbols are revealed and you get points based on the symbols.

Playing the game couldn't be any easier: Just select the game you want to play, press the OK button on your Roku remote, and wait to see if you win. Points are deducted for each play, and points are added for any winning games. If you're feeling particularly randy, you can even play all four games at one time with a single press of your OK button.

Of course, there is no cash payout for Boom Slots. The most you can hope for is to see your screen name in the list of top 8 players in the Daily Winning Leaderboard, which is updated nightly at midnight GMT. If the leaderboard is not your thing, fans of Stonerr 420 and WEEDtv may be content to just chill out and enjoy the cacophony of sights and sounds when the jackpot wheels go round and round.
