Sling TV adds multi-stream serviceFOX channels, including local affiliate broadcasts (in select markets) and FOX sports channels, are now available on a beta version of Sling TV, which also lets subscribers stream to as many as three devices simultaneously. Dish Network's Best of Live TV - Beta Multi-Stream is an alternative to the existing Best of Live TV service. Both services are priced at $20 per month and let subscribers add "Extras," which are add-on packages with additional channels. Examples are "Hollywood Extra," "Lifestyle Extra," and "World News Extra" for $5 per month each, HBO for $15 per month, and Cinemax for $10 per month.

The new package includes live and on-demand local FOX broadcasts for subscribers in Atlanta, Austin, Charlotte, N.C., Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Gainesville, Fla., Houston, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New York, Orlando, Philadelphia, Pa., Phoenix, San Francisco, Tampa, Fla. and Washington D.C. Subscribers outside of these markets have next-day on-demand access to FOX's most popular shows, including Empire, New Girl, Gotham, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

The biggest appeal of Best of Live TV - Beta Multi-Stream may be to sports fans who will have access to FOX Sports 1 and their in-market Fox regional sports network. Depending on your location, the following RSNs will be available as part of the $20/month subscription: FOX Sports Ohio, FOX Sports West, FOX Sports Florida, FOX Sports South, FOX Sports Midwest, FOX Sports Arizona, Fox Sports Cincinnati, FOX Sports Detroit, FOX Sports North, FOX Sports Prime Ticket, FOX Sports San Diego, FOX Sports Southeast, FOX Sports Southwest, FOX Sports Sun, SportsTime Ohio, and YES Network.

In addition to local FOX broadcasts and FOX Sports channels, this new package includes the following channels that aren't available on the original Sling TV package: National Geographic (NatGeo), FX, truTV (also available as part of the Lifestyle Extra add-on), and the Spanish-language channels UniMás and Univision (also available as part of the Películas & Novelas Extra add-on). But subscribers to the new package won't have access to Disney, ESPN, ESPN2, and Freeform (formerly ABC Family), which are part of the original Sling TV package.

In summary, the major trade-off for most subscribers will be that you can have ESPN, ESPN2, and Disney - streaming on one device at a time - on the original Sling TV Best of Live TV package; or you can have local FOX (in select markets), FOX Sports, FX, and NatGeo - streaming on up to three devices at the same time - with the Best of Live TV - Beta Multi-Stream package. If you want your ESPN and FOX sports, you can subscribe to both packages, but there's no price cuts - it will run you $40/month for both.
