Sling TV discounts base packages by 40% in tax season promotion

March 6, 2019 - 21:16 -- RokuGuide
Sling TV discounts base packages by 40%While other streaming TV services are raising their prices,, Sling TV is offering a deep discount to new subscribers: three months of service at just $15 per month for either Sling Blue or Sling Orange. This is 40% off the normal price of $25 per month. New subscribers can get the combined Orange & Blue package for $25 per month, discounted from the usual $40 per month.

Sling is describing this discount as a tax season promotion, saying "We know tax season can be harsh on your wallet, which is why we're offering a new way to save you money." Sling references information from the IRS that as of February 1, 2019, people are receiving $170 less in their tax refund than in 2018.

Regardless of the rationale behind the 40% limited-time discount, the promotion is sure to add many new subscribers. Sling TV has long been the top streaming TV service on Roku, leading a pack of competitors like DirecTV NOW, YouTube TV, and Playstation Vue. Sling Blue includes near four dozen channels, including popular networks TNT, TBS, CNN, AMC, HGTV, History, A&E, and Food Network. Sling Orange has a similar but slightly smaller lineup, and substitutes ESPN for Fox, Fox Sports, and NBC, which are available on Sling Blue in limited markets. If you can't choose, you can get all that both channels have to offer - over 50 networks - with the Orange & Blue package.
