YouTube will remain on Roku, YouTube TV dedicated app has returned

After a months-long spat between Roku and Google, the two companies came to an agreement on Wednesday to keep YouTube on the Roku platform. The announcement was made on Wednesday, just one day before Google planned to remove the YouTube app from Roku's channel store, preventing Roku users from adding it if it wasn't already installed on their Roku devices. The agreement also resulted in the return of the standalone YouTube TV app, which has already been restored to the Roku channel store.

Roku to remove all private channels on February 23, 2022

Roku announced that the company will disable all non-certified (aka "private") channels on all Roku devices on February 23, 2022. Private/non-certified channels will be replaced with beta channels that allow up to 20 users per channel for a duration of 120 days and an Independent Developer Kit that will allow developers and enthusiasts to build and sideload applications for their own personal use.
