Truth or Dare on Roku provides players with the questions and dares for this classic party game in which players are given the choice between answering a question truthfully or performing a dare. This Roku version has one free category. Twenty-eight additional categories are available if you purchase the full game. These categories include Kids, Teens, Adults, Couple, Sexy & Dirty, Funny, and more.
In the free Classic category, "Truth" questions include "What is your least favorite item of clothing that you have seen me where?" and "What's the weirdest thing you've done while driving?" Dares include "Sing a song from your favorite TV show" and "Do your best impression of a T-Rex." Each game lasts 1, 3, 5, or 10 minutes, depending on which you choose at the start (the free version allows only 1-minute games.
The purpose of the timer isn't clear, other than to complete as many truth-or-dares as possible, but the game offers no scorekeeping so this doesn't seem to matter. For each truth you select "Answered" or "Passed" and for each dare you select "Completed" or "Passed." Again, the game doesn't track points so it doesn't seem to matter what you select. The main menu has a "How to Play" section that instructs you to add the number of players and their names and to then give the first player the phone. This game doesn't offer any options for player names or numbers, and doesn't use a phone, so it appears that someone ported this app from a different platform and forgot to change the instructions.
If you want more questions and dares that are available in the free version of the game, or you don't want the hassle of going through the menu after every one minute of play, we suggest you purchase a set of Truth or Dare cards for less than or close to the $20 price tag on the full Roku version.
