Snake Horizon is one of several Roku variations of the Snake video game genre that originated in 1976. As with other versions of the game, the "snake" in Snake Horizon consists of a head that you move left/right and up/down to eat items (such as apples) that cause the snake to growing longer. The objective is to eat as many items as possible without the snake's head running into itself or a wall or other obstacle.
Snake Horizon lets you pick from several snake colors, select from three levels of difficulty, and choose Classic (walls enclose the entire screen) or Open (your snake can move off-screen and will reappear at the opposite side). You then select the Forest, Space, or Water theme to start playing.
Although the graphics are nice (see screenshots below), Snake Horizon suffers from slow response to directional changes and the snake movements are jerky. We still prefer the simplicity and smoothness of the original Roku version of this game, SNAKE, that we first reviewed in 2015.
