Quick Look: My Slideshow offers Roku users an easy way to create personal slideshows for display through their Roku or on their Roku TV. Setting up My Slideshow and creating slideshows is easy. After creating an account at www.rokslides.com, create a new slideshow and upload images to it, then place the images in your preferred order, select the the amount of time each image should be displayed, and you're done. Launch the My Slideshow channel on your Roku, connect to the account you created at rokslides.com, and your slideshows will be waiting for you.
My Slideshow options are limited. The website lists the ability to "select a slideshow effect such as fade, slide left, etc.", but slideshow effects are not currently available - images simply jump from one to the next. While other Roku slideshow apps like Easy Show let you create multimedia shows that include videos and audio files, My Slideshow limits you to image files. Supported are JPG, GIF, and PNG formats, but the image files must be at least 720 pixels wide. Try uploading smaller images and you will get an error that the image is too small.
You can upload as many photos as you like and create unlimited slideshows, but you'll be paying for the storage space. Unlike other slideshow apps, My Slideshow charges a monthly subscription rather than a one-time fee. Other Roku slideshow apps make use of files that you already have stored on Dropbox, Google Drive, local web servers, and other local and online services.
