Quick Look: This game takes the award for the most uninspired and most unimaginative Roku game ever offered for sale. The game presents a multiplication equation such as 1 x 2 or 3 x 12 and the player picks one of three answers. A correct answer is rewarded with the sound of applause, while a wrong answer is greeted with a crowd booing. The loud booing seems a bit harsh for a young child just learning the multiplication tables, which is the audience this game is obviously geared toward.
The game tracks the number of right and wrong answers, but there are no other embellishments, putting this game on the equivalent of multiplication flash cards.
There are many ways this game could be enhanced to make it at least slightly interesting for children. Levels of increasing difficulty, for example, or giving a star for mastering each fact family. The Internet is awash in free multiplication games that make good use of interactive graphics to measure progress. Deep Dive lets players move the diver around the screen to take a photo of the correct answer. Get enough correct answers and you get to dive to a deeper level. In Multiplication Space Race you maneuver your rocket ship to select an answer; each correct answer gives your rocket ship more speed as you race against others.
If you're trying to teach your kids how to multiply, save your dollar and find a Web-based game for them to practice with.
