iFood.tv

Quick Look: iFood.tv is one of the best choices on Roku for cooking videos, with lots of recipes and cooking shows. Categories change with the seasons and holiday, but currently include the following:

  • Popular Food Shows - Calling these video collection "shows" is a bit misleading. Rather than the expected half-hour or hour-long TV shows, these are really collections of videos from 46 (at current count) YouTube contributors, such as Copykat Recipes, Glen and Friends Cooking, Get Curried, Betty's Kitchen, and Gooseberry Patch. But this is a great starting point if you follow certain YouTube food and cooking personalities.
  • Food in Movies - There are currently 19 full-length movies where the subject is primarily food or cooking. Included are * Slices, in which Oscar Wilde has created a utopia in his pizza parlor by financially rewarding his employees for reading dense, philosophical books; and Servitude, about a group of frustrated waiters at a kitschy steakhouse who take over their restaurant for a final, glorious, revenge-filled night after discovering they are all about to be fired.
  • Fall Favorites - Recipes for the season, including Stuffed Spiced Apples, Shepherd's Pie, and Perfect Pumpking Pie-lets.
  • Crazy Taste Tests - Instead of recipes, this is a food-inspired talk show covering topics such as where certain breakfast sandwiches come from, taste testing freeze dried candy and guessing what it is, and figuring out the best frozen chicken nugget brand.

Of course, you'll also find plenty of recipe categories, like Back To School Recipes, European Top Picks, Rib Recipes, Easy Grilled Recipes, and many more. There are 13 "Discover" categories that include Italian American Heritage, Diet Trends, and Food Celebrations. Select Ingredients from this set of categories and you can then browse recipes made with beans, blueberries, cheese, or several other main ingredients. "Cuisine" lets you browse among American, Arabic, Brazilian, British, Cajun, and several other international and ethnic selections. And, of course, the channel includes a search function if you're looking for something even more specific
