Roku adds 25 live linear TV channels to The Roku ChannelRoku has expanded its free live linear TV channel lineup on The Roku Channel with the addition of 25 new channels, including FOX Weather and channels dedicated to popular shows that include "Ice Road Truckers," "Ax Men," "Modern Marvels," "The Price is Right," and "Project Runway." You'll also find new kids channels such as "Bob the Builder."

Roku has removed all private channelsFollowing through on an earlier announcement, Roku, Inc. has removed all non-certified (aka "private") channels from Roku devices as the company implements two new developer features, beta channels and the Independent Developer Kit (IDK). Unfortunately for many Roku users, neither of these are able to take the place of the old private channels, which allowed developers to distribute content to unlimited numbers of users, as discussed below.

New Roku Channels Reviews - February 11, 2022In our new and updated Roku channel reviews this week - The sports focus this week has been on the 2022 Winter Olympics and Sunday's Super Bowl LVI, but the professional hockey season is still in full swing. We've belatedly updated our review of the NHL Roku app, which provides league-wide and team-specific coverage that includes game highlights, player interviews, and much more. In anticipation of Roku removing all private/non-certified channels, the Bill O'Reilly channel has moved into the public channel store. It still carries full episodes of the No Spin News podcast for paid subscribers, along with free clips of recent podcasts. MST3K fans will enjoy the new Mystery Science Theater 3000 channel. The channel currently has previews of upcoming new episodes of the show in which a janitor and his two robot creations comment on vintage B-movies, but upcoming plans include the ability to livestream new episode premieres and buy or rent past episodes.

Super Bowl 2022 on RokuSuper Bowl LVI, which pits the Los Angeles Rams and the Cincinnati Bengals for the NFL championship, is this Sunday, February 13, 2022 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, California. Kickoff is at 6:30 p.m. ET, but coverage starts at 12:00 Noon ET with "Road to the Super Bowl," followed by "Super Bowl LVI Pregame Show" at 1:00 p.m. ET.
