The Roku Channel

Quick Look: The Roku Channel is a streaming movie channel from Roku, Inc., available on current-generation Roku devices and Roku TVs in the U.S. As with firmware updates, The Roku Channel is being rolled out to Roku devices over the course of several weeks. Roku, Inc. promises "hundreds of Hollywood hits, all free and available to watch whenever you want... with no subscriptions. No fees. And no logins required." And on top of that, "fewer commercials than you see on broadcast TV."

Videos are sourced from studios that include Lionsgate, MGM, Sony, Warner Brothers and others. Also included on The Roku Channel are "a broad selection of free entertainment from existing Roku channel publishers such as American Classics, FilmRise, Popcornflix, Vidmark and YuYu (and others over time)." Scrolling through all of the titles, there really is not a "bad" movie in their lineup. Titles include Stand By Me (1986), Throw Momma from the Train (1987), Ronin (1995), The Thomas Crown Affair (1999) and Layer Cake (2004) just to name a few.

If your Roku hasn't been updated to included The Roku Channel, you'll see the following notice: "Right now, The Roku Channel is not available on any of your devices, but it will be soon! Check back in the coming weeks as we continue to roll it out to all current generation Roku devices."
