DIRECTV NOW, AT&T's linear TV service for cordcutters, is now available on many Roku devices. Coming two months after a promised launch on Roku in the first quarter of 2017, the new app is being billed as an early release that is available only on "select devices." These currently include Roku TV 4K models, Roku Ultra, Roku Premiere+, Roku Premiere, Roku Express, Roku Express+, Roku Streaming Stick (model 3600R), Roku 4, Roku 3 and Roku 2 (model 4210). Current-generation standalone Roku devices are supported, but non-4K models of Roku TV are noticeably absent. Roku states that they "will continue to work with AT&T to add support for more Roku devices in the future."
Roku's blog offers a free one-month trial, after which you will be auto-billed a minimum of $35/month unless canceled, but there seems to be some confusion over the actual terms and conditions. Go to the Roku offer page at www.directvnow.com/roku and you'll find a statement that you'll be auto-billed a minimum of $70/month, with no refunds. Click the button to "start your free trial now" and you suddenly have only a 7-day free trial offer. So, which is it - 30 days then $35/month, or 7 days then $70/month? We haven't figured that out, so "buyer beware."
