Howdy is a budget-friendly streaming service from Roku, offering a smaller library than competitors such as Netflix, but providing ad-free viewing - which will be welcomed by many viewers of Roku's free The Roku Channel who quickly grow tired of the same handful of commercials airing over and over.
At launch, Roku announced that Howdy carries nearly 10,000 hours of content that includes thousands of movies and TV episodes licensed from partners that include Lionsgate, Warner Bros. Discovery and FilmRise.Titles include "Mad Max: Fury Road," "Elvis," "The Fate of the Furious," "Dirty Dancing," "Fruitvale Station," "American Psycho," "The Graduate," "Reservoir Dogs," "Blade," "Party Down," "Best in Show," "Southland," "Nurse Jackie," "The Blind Side," "Unforgiven," "Weeds" and "Kids in the Hall."
HINT: If you don't want to browse through Howdy's so-called "genres" like "Justice or Just Revenge?" and "Ready, Set Action!", find the All Movies category, scroll right, then select "More." At the time of our review, there were 200 movies listed. If you prefer Howdy's genres, other categories include Cook Off!, Action Meets Adventure, 90-Minute Movies, and Twists You Won't See Coming.
For non-subscribers, Howdy offers free episodes of several TV series. A dozen titles are currently available, including one episode each of Heartland, Untold Stories of the E.R., Weeds, Nashville, and The Conners.
