The Jimmy Shimmy

Quick Look: The Jimmy Shimmy is a Roku version of the classic video game created in the early 1980s, Lode Runner. The game plays just like the original video game with graphics from many different platforms including Nintendo, Apple II, Commodore 64, Atari 8 bits and more. You can also choose which edition you want to play (Classic 1983, Championship 1984 or Professional 1985) or you can play custom levels that you choose. As with many games on Roku, you can choose between a vertical or horizontal mode for your remote; diagrams are provided showing you the purpose of each button. You can vary the game speed from very fast to very slow with settings in between, this will affect high score status as modified games are not eligible to be recorded.

If you've never played Lode Rode - or don't remember how to play, you start the game with 5 lives and you traverse the obstacle course picking up treasure, trying to avoid your captors. You can use the OK button on your remote to dig holes that your pursuers will fall into, or you can use to escape and drop to the loser levels. This function will not work in all cases, as some blocks cannot be removed while some sections of the course contain hidden treasures that are uncovered when you use the "Dig" action.

If you enjoy this game, a modified version is available on Roku called Carrot Mania Pirates.
