Stars Screensaver displays a slideshow of star-filled night skies, including the ones shown in the screenshots below, while your Roku is idle. The screensaver offers the option to display the time in 12-hour or 24-hour format, and you can select an image display time of either 15 or 30 seconds. In addition to acting as a screensaver, this channel can be manually launched from your Roku's home screen anytime you wish to view it.
The screensaver displayed ads that, during our review, took the form of "suggested channels" at the bottom of the screen. You can remove these ads by opening the app from your Roku's home menu, pressing "OK" when the "remove ads" splash screen comes up, and selecting "Remove Ads". When you do this, you are agreeing to allow Bright Data to use your Roku devices "free resources and IP address to download public web data from the Internet."
From what we can discern, you are allowing Bright Data to use the IP address of your Internet connection as a residential proxy so that their VPN customers can avoid location restrictions and geographic blocks. This means that a user in another country will be accessing websites and Internet services while making it appear that this access came from your device. If you are not comfortable with allowing your IP addressed used in this manner, we recommend sticking with the ad version or selecting a different screensaver.
To set this screensaver to activate when your Roku is idle, install the screensaver then go to Settings from your Roku's home screen and select Theme >> Screensavers >> select the screensaver >> Set as screensaver. You can also manually activate the screensaver by launching it from your Roku's home screen like any other channel.
