Quick Look: The blinkx.com brand has added another channel to its Roku lineup. In addition to Hot Gossip and the primary blinkx channel, we now have Sports by blinkx.
For those not familiar with the blinkx format, the channels aggregate video content from various content producers. In the case of Sports by blinkx, these videos come from sources such as Total College Sports, ACC Digital Network, and Bleacher Report.
Sports by blinkx currently (March 2012) has six categories of sports-related videos: Hockey, Baseball, Football, College Basketball, Basketball and Extreme Sports. The categories will presumably change throughout the year, depending on which sports are currently in season. Each category provides several videos grouped by relative date, such as "Recent", "One Week Ago", etc. Video quality varies depending on the source. Some videos stream in high quality while others are fairly poor.
The videos are usually fairly short, only a minute or so in length. This channel will appeal to those who like their sports news in small bites.
