Reader's Digest

Quick Look: Reader's Digest is a general-interest magazine that was founded in 1922 and for many years carried the distinction of being the best-selling consumer magazine in the United States[1]. The magazine is still published in print and digital form, and is now available on Roku in a video format.

Videos are short, from less than a minute to a couple of minutes in length, and are available in the following categories:

  • Fun - Tasteful jokes for every occasion, Interesting facts and improperly used words and phrases
  • Knowledge - Etiquette for all occasions, Confusing English Words and Myths
  • Solutions - Weight Loss, Home Remedies and Overcoming Failure
  • Stories - Surviving 9/11, Quotes from Princess Diana and Unsolved Mysteries

Unfortunately, you have to sit through two ads before the start of every video. When a video is only 53 seconds long, that means the preroll commercials last longer than the actual video. If you like Reader's Digest, you're better off dropping a few dollars on a subscription to the print or digital edition of the actual magazine.

The Reader's Digest YouTube channel offers additional content including the video below.
