PlayOn Cloud

Quick Look: PlayOn Cloud is a cloud-based streaming video recorder that lets you record videos from a dozen different TV networks and video streaming websites for later viewing on the PlayOn Cloud Roku channel. Videos can also be downloaded for offline viewing using the PlayOn Cloud Android app or iOS app on your mobile device.

Currently, users can record videos from the following providers: Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Video, ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, HBO NOW, PBS, The CW, and YouTube. The PlayOn Cloud Roku channel and mobile apps allow you to skip commercials with a touch of a button. Note that recordings can only be scheduled through the mobile app - you cannot schedule recordings through the Roku channel or the PlayOn Cloud website.

The Roku channel and mobile apps are free, but you'll have to per for every show that you record. According to the PlayOn Cloud website, shows cost $0.70 each to record. You'll need to purchase credits through the mobile app or through the PlayOn Cloud website, and then redeem credits when you record a show. The minimum purchase is 100 credits, currently available for 20 cents per credit on the website and 40 cents per credit through the device apps. Credit purchases cannot be made through the Roku channel.

If you don't plan to download videos or watch them on a mobile device, PlayOn Desktop may be a better option. PlayOn Desktop lets you record and stream from hundreds of additional providers, including those available with PlayOn Cloud. More information is available on our PlayOn Desktop channel page.
