Old School Education

Quick Look: Old School Education provides a way to view children's textbooks from an earlier era, with titles dating back to the late 1800s. Each book is presented as a video in which an image of each page from the book is presented one after the other. Because these are streaming videos and not interactive ebooks, you will need to use your Roku remote to pause the video if you need more time to read a page. Likewise, you'll have to rewind and fast-forward and cannot skip pages as you would do on a Kindle or similar reading device.

There are 34 titles available in the subjects of Language Arts, Math, Health, Physical Education, Fine Arts, Social Studies, Science, 2nd Language, and Miscellaneous. Example titles are "Little Lessons for Little Housekeepers," published in 1879, and McGuffey's Eclectic Primer," published in 1909. Some of titles are available online for free through Project Gutenburg, which allows much easier ways of reading the books.
