Mashable

Quick Look: Mashable is a digital media website filled with tech, digital culture and entertainment content. Videos cover social media, tech, business, entertainment, lifestyle and much more. The site receives over 45 million unique views every month.

Considering that Mashable has such a large and influential website, the Mashable Roku channel is quite a disappointment. There are currently a paltry 66 videos available in only six categories: Technology, Watercooler, Entertainment, Lifestyle, and US & World. It appears that each category is limited to no more than 20 videos. I first thought that the library would be constantly updated with the latest videos, so you see only the 20 newest posts, but there are no more than 1 or 2 videos from today in any category, and some videos are three weeks old. It's hard to tell the date, though, as the single-line video description with date often cuts off the date and full description. The channel's home screen suggests that you press the * button on your Roku remote to access more options, leading to hope for additional and more-current content, but that function does not operate from the home screen.

All things considered, Mashable's Roku channel looks like a beta channel that accidentally got published. Oddly, the official Mashable page in the Roku Channel Store does not even list a channel developer, so it's possible that this channel is not even Mashable-approved. If you're a regular Mashable viewer, you would be better served by subscribing to Mashable on YouTube and watching the videos through Roku's YouTube channel.
