Quick Look: Ants vs. Spiders is a is a loose adaptation of the classic video game Lode Runner. The game is formatted in 8-bit video (old school) and the object of the game is to collect as many of the apples as possible while avoiding the roaming spiders. Once you have collected all of the apples for a level you can move on to the next level.
The playing field is a maze of levels connected by vines that you, as well as the spiders, can easily climb up or down. If you find yourself stuck you can dig a hole using the FF or REW buttons on your remote - you can escape through the hole or let the spiders get stuck in it. Any contact with a spider will result in the loss of one of your four lives. Here are the available controls:
- Up arrow - Climb up
- Down arrow - Climb down
- FF and REW - Dig left and right of your position
- Pause/Play - Pause game
- * - Enable/Disable Freeze (In App Purchase necessary)
The basic game is free, but there are in-app purchases available to help you along the way. These purchases are made using your Roku account billing information. You can purchase an additional ten lives for $1.99, become immortal for one level for $3.99, and have the ability to freeze spiders for $1.99.
Game highs are recorded with prizes promised by the game developer for weekly high scores.
