DISH Network announced the upcoming 1st-quarter 2015 launch of Sling TV, a live, over-the-top television service that will compete with traditional cable and satellite service. For only $20 per month, Sling TV will offer live streams of ESPN, ESPN2, TNT, TBS, Food Network, HGTV, Cartoon Network, Disney Channel and several other popular channels, along with video-on-demand.
For an additional $5 per month, subscribers will will be able to add “Kids Extra” with Disney Junior, Disney XD, Boomerang, Baby TV and Duck TV. For the same price, a “News & Info Extra” add-on will include HLN, Cooking Channel, DIY and Bloomberg TV. A “Sports Extra” package is reportedly in the works as well.
All of this will be available with no contract, no credit check, and no additional equipment. The Sling TV service will be delivered over current-generation Roku players and Roku TVs, and is also expected to be available on Amazon Fire TV, Amazon Fire TV Stick, Google’s Nexus Player, select LG Smart TVs, select Samsung Smart TVs, and Xbox One, along with iOS, Android, Mac, and PC devices.
