Airy TV

Quick Look: Airy TV is a live-stream TV service similar to Pluto TV and Live TV on The Roku Channel, but with significantly fewer channels available. At the time of our review, there were just three dozen live streams, compared to more than 250 channels on Pluto TV. However, while Pluto and its competitors offer much of the same content, Airy provides shows you aren't likely to find on the other services.

What is on Airy TV

Among the three dozen live streams on Airy are Foqus TV, a music video channel that solicits videos from new artists; War Zone, with vintage films like This is the Army (1943), Aerial Gunner (1943), and Corregidor (1943); and Legends of Wrestling, with top wrestling matches from the 70s, 80s, and 90s. A seeming large number of channels feature vintage movies; among these are Westward Ho; Western Club; Monsters, Aliens and Werewolves; and Space Out, in addition to the just-mentioned War Zone.

There is very little in the way of mainstream content here. You won't find any big names like ABC News or Comedy Central like you'll find on competing services.

How to Use Airy TV

Airy TV is very basic in terms of functionality and information provides. The app has a traditional programming grid that shows current and upcoming shows (see screenshot below), but very little in the way of show information. The Travel & Food TV channel, for example, shows only "Travel & Food" in one-hour segments with nothing describing the content. Likewise, World Poker Tour shows only that name for all programs on that channel, but there is no information identifying the name or date of the tournaments being played.

Another issue with the programming grid is that the channels are provided in no particular order. Music channels like Nashville Country TV and the previously-mentioned Foqus TV are interspersed with vintage movie channels like Westward Ho and sports channels like Ski TV. The programming grid offers no way to filter or sort, and you cannot "favorite" any channels.

Using Airy TV is very simple. Just select a show in the programming grid and press OK on your remote to show that channel's stream in the live view above the grid. Press OK again to switch to full-screen viewing The back arrow on your remote will bring up the programming grid. Airy TV does not allow you to pause, rewind, or fast-forward, but you can channel surf in full-screen mode using the up and down directional arrows on your remote.
