What to Watch March 26, 2011The forecast here is for lots of rain this weekend, with some severe thunderstorms thrown in for fun. That means plenty of time to catch up on the latest Roku offerings. Here's what I'll be watching this weekend, along with some ideas for you to check out.

Inmoo Independent Entertainment TheaterInmoo.com is, according to their website, "the largest authorized independent entertainment theater on the Web, providing free access to thousands of independent films from your computer, smartphone, tablet or living room." And by living room, they mean Roku, even though the current number of films falls far short of the "thousands" heralded as being available on the website.

CrackleI was excited when I first visited TV Minisodes on the Crackle channel. Over 50 classic TV series! Sitcoms, dramas, game shows, cartoons - it was as if TVLand had come to the Roku and I was selecting the programs. My excitement turned to disappointment when I discovered that these weren't full episodes. Crackle was giving me only short five-minute clips. Why would I want to watch just a few minutes of an hour-long show?

Fans of Major League Baseball will again be able to watch every regular season game in HD on their Roku players. However, be careful to read the fine print to find out what you're getting. Many Roku owners who signed up for a pricey subscription to MLB.tv have been upset to find that spring training games will not be streamed to the Roku.

Hogoworm DungeonAre you old enough to remember the classic Snake video arcade game from the 1970s? Hogofilms has updated this game for the Roku with a free 10-level version and a full version for only 99 cents that provides 50 levels of play and an unlimited random-play mode.

Roku recently introduced the ability to purchase channels and apps directly from your Roku player. Unfortunately, Roku provides no on-screen instructions, only a "buy" option. When I attempted to buy a game app, I got a notice that the "operation is not supported at this time". Not very helpful! Roku is hopefully working on a more-informative notice, but in the meantime here are instructions on how to set up your account to allow on-screen purchases directly from your Roku digital video player.
