Netflix excels at recommending titles based on what you've previously watched (look for the category "Top Pick for [Your Name]"), but also provides categories such as Popular on Netflix, Trending Now, New Releases, and genres like Crime TV Dramas, Retro TV, Critically Acclaimed Films, and so on. If you see a title you like, select it for a synopsis and cast information, and to bring up a menu of options that let you add the title to your watch list, rate it, change audio and subtitles, and see more titles like the one selected.
Netflix allows users to set up multiple profiles under a single account, so that each person in a household has their own watch list, and one person's odd entertainment selections don't influence recommendations for everyone else. TIP: Set up a profile named Guest for use by visitors. Profile information is maintained between devices, so a watch list created on the living room Roku will be available to users on the same account logged into any other device.
