Popcornflix Comedy

Popcornflix Comedy comes from the creators of PopcornFlix. You still get all the great content that you have learned to love about Popcornflix, except it is streamlined into the comedy genre of movies. The channel has something for everyone, even the kids; however, most content would be considered PG-13 to R (Restricted).

Mystery Science Theater - For those of you not familiar with this television series, it consists of a man and his robot sidekicks who are imprisoned on a space station by an evil scientist and forced to watch a selection of B Movies as part of a psychological experiment. To stay sane, the man and his robots provide a running commentary on each film, making fun of its flaws, and wisecracking their way through each reel in the style of a movie-theater peanut gallery.

Popcornflix Originals - Here you will find several episodes from the series "Live at the New York Comedy Club". You will see comedy sketches from Matt Pavich, Russ Gutin, and Jordan Rock, to name just few.

Family Comedy - A collection of movies that are appropriate for (almost) all ages. Watch classics like A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court (1989) and Jack and the Beanstalk (2010). Along with these titles there are many more hours of entertainment for the kids.

Action Comedy - This is a new genre to me, but I am going to guess that with titles like The Hebrew Hammer (2003), and FDR:American Badass (2012) you get just that: Action-packed movies that make you laugh.

Foreign Comedy - Based on the available titles, Aisha (2010), Bread and Tulips (2000), and Dubble, (2008) it is no wonder the French find Jerry Lewis hilarious.

Dramedy - Another new genre that I am not sure should be a real classification, or even combined. Personally I like to keep both my life and comedy drama-free. Here you will find titles like Hoods (1998), Bruno (2000), and Clear Blue Tuesday (2009).

Indie-Comedy - Over 20 titles of movies you have never heard of but with actors you have, like Gary Oldmen, Paul Hogan, Olympia Dukakis and Cloris Leachman. Enjoy Hard Times (2009), the story of a local Postie who plans to steal a shipment of Viagra and sell it on the Open Market in Amsterdam, or Roller Town (2011) where "a roller-skating-obsessed town is over-run by video game shilling gangsters, only one man has the funk deep enough to boogie them back to oblivion." With story lines like that they can't be that bad.

Romantic-Comedy - Everyone knows what this is about, and have seen plenty of movies that fall into this category, just not these movies: Planet Brooklyn (2004), eCupid (2011), and Alabama Love Story, aka Roper& Goodie (2003). With close to 40 unique titles you have plenty of Date Night Movies to choose from.

Late Night Comedy - Definitely not something the "kids" should be watching, especially with titles like Heavy Petting Detective(1995), Hollywood Sex Wars (2001), and Cougar Hunting (2011). There are over 25 more movies with these same characteristics (gratuitous nudity, partying, and all out debauchery).

Satire - Defined as the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people's stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues. An accurate description of moves found here: Stripper-Natasha Kizmet (2009), best described as "Borat with Boobs", and 10 Terrorists (2012), where an outrageous Los Angeles producer sets out to make the most extreme and controversial reality television show ever.

Dark-Comedy - Seems to be a fairly popular category with over 50 titles to its name. Enjoy "classics" like The Anarchist's Cookbook (2002), Satan's Helper (2004), and Welcome to Dopeland (2011).

Shobiz-Comedy - I think the classification of "Showbiz Comedy" is getting a little restrictive. Going out on a limb, I am guessing it pertains to a "Hollywood Dream" theme, and based on the title The Casting Couch (2013). I don't think I am far off the mark.

Sports-Comedy - You do the math, Comedy+Sports=Sports-Comedy. A small collection of "sports" themed movies involving Skiing, Baseball, Sex, Foursome, Minis, and Dennis Rodman.

Teen-Comedy - Under-age drinking, sex, and nudity are words that could most likely be used to describe any one of these movies, but you are going to have to watch them to find out for yourself.
