If you would like to be on vacation, spending your time gazing out of a luxury hotel room window, the Best Room View Roku channel is for you. Best Room View is a linear stream of videos recorded from hotel rooms around the world. During our review, the videos were mostly static shots with no panning or zooming, which is typical of the videos from ArmChair Tourist. The view does periodically change though, with a quick shot of the hotel room itself and a look at the hotel building from the outside.
Most of the videos we saw were in beautiful cities or tropical locales - one room overlooked the oceanfront infinity swimming pool at the RIU in Cabo San Lucas - but not all views are this scenic. The view from the Four Seasons Hotel in Buenos Aires focused on a gridlocked multi-lane highway just yards away.
Each hotel name and location are shown from time to time, but you'll have to wait for it - there is no continuous display and no way to bring up information on the current video. This channel may not help you select a hotel for your next vacation, but it is a nice "ambience" app (it also plays soothing background music) if you like to keep your TV on but not watch anything in particular.
