Ask RokuGuide: Cannot Activate SEC Network on Roku

SEC Network on Roku"Dear RokuGuide, I was excited about the recent launch of the SEC Network. I immediately went to my Roku and installed the SEC Digital Network channel. However, when I follow the instructions to link my Roku player, the website given in the instructions doesn't have anywhere to enter the activation code. How do I activate the SEC Network on my Roku?"

The SEC Network debuted on February 14, 2014, with a broadcast of SEC Now, a news and information show covering the Southeastern Conference. Unfortunately for Roku users, the SEC Digital Network Roku channel does not provide access to the new SEC Network that was formed in partnership with ESPN. The SEC ESPN Network is only available through cable and satellite providers, including Time Warner, Comcast, Bright House Networks, AT&T U-verse, Dish, Cox and Google Fiber. (Check here to see if it's available at your location.)

But wait - the word on the street is that the SEC Network will be added to Roku's WatchESPN channel. You'll probably still need to subscribe to a participating cable or satellite service (ESPN3 is free to all), but at least you'll have the convenience of using your Roku when you're on a TV not connected to a cable box.

So, what's up with Roku's SEC Digital Network? This channel has some months-old episodes of SEC Now and a collection game highlights from early 2013. There are also ten full games, the most recent being a March 2011 Florida vs. Kentucky basketball game. And the website provided for activating your Roku player will only redirect you to the main SEC Network website. No word on whether this channel will be updated or pulled from the Channel Store.
