Quick Look: If you're looking for movie trailers, you need the Flixster Roku channel. Flixster offers dozens of HD trailers in each of the following categories:
- Now in Theaters - Movies currently in theaters
- Coming Soon - See what's coming soon to the theater near you
- New on DVD - Movies recently released on DVD and Blu-Ray Disc
- Certified Fresh - As rated by Rotten Tomatoes
Unlike Fandango, which offers clips in addition to trailers, the Flixster menu presents only one promotional trailer per film. However, Flixster also provides an informational screen for each movie that lists the starring actors, the director, a synopsis of the film, the movie's running time, and the "freshness rating" from Rotten Tomatoes.
For those who aren't familiar with the Rotten Tomatoes rating system, all films are scored from 0% (rotten movie) to 100% (fresh movie). If you're just looking for the highest-rated movies, go straight to the Certified Fresh category, which has trailers for only the highest-rated films. If you're looking for a specific movie, there is also a search function that let's you search by film title.
Even if you found the movie you're looking for in the Flixster menu, don't ignore that search function. It gives you access to a vast collection of clips that you won't find in the menu. For example, the "Now in Theaters" and "Certified Fresh" categories currently list Captain America: The First Avenger, but you'll only get the movie trailer from the menu. Search on "Captain" and you can watch 15 additional videos, including videos with some of the stars of the movie. The search isn't limited to listed movies, either - you'll find clips and trailers from many movies that aren't currently shown in the menu.
The Flixster Roku channel is a great way to find a movie, allowing you to watch full HD clips and trailers from Flixster's large video collection.
