Dance Party

Dance Party Quick Look: The verdict is out on this game as to whether or not it actually works. I held the remote as still as possible and received a score of 2500 for one of the Casual setting songs. I then mimicked the dancer to the best of my limited dancing abilities and received a score of 2610. My next test was to set it on a stable surface, and at first I was getting rewarded with "Perfect" 40 points, "Good" 20 points and "OK" 10 points ratings. Once the song was about half way through the scores and comments went away and I received X which equates to "0" points for a final score of 1270. My final test I decided to try a different song and higher intensity level so I went for the song "Pretty Mama" with an Intense rating. For this one I simply moved the remote back and forth slightly to the beat and received a string of "Perfects" with a final score of over 5000. Now I am not sure if my dancing was that bad, the calibration of the "ROLOMOTION" was off or if it simply needs to detect some motion to give you points but I would be very skeptical of the game.

A little about the game: The game was originally designed as an app for the Apple TV to be used in conjunction with your iPhone, and below there are two links to the reviews for that game. The game designed for the Roku operates in the same manner except your remote acts as the tracking device. The object of the game is to replicate the dance moves you see the figure doing on the screen and you are awarded points based on the accuracy of your dancing. Each of the selections (songs) tracks and records your personal best.

The differences between the iOS game and the Roku game are very subtle. The Roku game offers 6 different songs and 3 difficulty/intensity levels, as well as the "calculated" amount of calories burned. The 2 Casual songs are "Shake It" by Dan Gautreau, and Angie by Lena Rose. The Moderate songs are "Pump the Club" by Dmitry Lifshits and "With Us or Against Us" by Arjun and Jay Mo. The final options are "Pretty Mama" by Dave Tough Band, and "Swing Baby Swing" by DNC. Unlike the AppleTV version only one player at a time, there is no "Party" or "Blindfold" mode, and you can not share the information via social media (unless you want to take pictures of the screen and post them)

My personal opinion is the Roku and Rolomotion are not compatible due to the limited technology the Roku gaming remote possesses, but you can be the judge.
