RokuGuide Quick Look: Warner Archive provides access to over 1500 movies and TV series from the 1920s through the 1990s on DVD. Warner Archive Instant offers subscription-based streaming access to these videos through the service's website and Roku channel.
The Roku channels includes a movie search feature that will return results based on film titles, actors, and synopses. Subscribers can browse all titles by genre (Action / Adventure, Classic Comedy, Classic Drama, Comedy, Crime, Drama, Family, Film Noir, Horror, Mondo/Cult, Musical, Mystery, Pre-Code, Romance, Sci-Fi, Silent, Suspense / Thriller, War, and Western), or within four showcases (After Midnight, Forbidden Hollywood, Guilty Pleasures, and Incendiary Cinema). The Warner Archive website also allows browsing by decade, but this feature is missing from the Roku channel. To browse television shows, look under the Search & Browse heading in the channel.
The channel is one of only a handful of Roku channels to offer the option of viewing captions, which is selected on a title-by-title basis. Other than captioning, there are very few features available. There is no queue for movies you want to watch later. Although you have the ability to exit from a movie and then resume viewing later, there is no indication on the menu of which movies you have watched or started to watch. You will have to remember the title and then search for or browse to that movie when you want to resume viewing.
