Vimeo

Vimeo Quick Look: Vimeo is a video sharing site founded by a group of filmmakers who wanted to share their creative work. On the Vimeo website, you can watch Staff Picks, purchase On Demand videos, browse by Categories and Channels, and join groups. On Roku, your options are more limited, although Vimeo's August 2014 update of their Roku app did expand the options available. If you haven't linked the Vimeo Roku channel to a Vimeo account, you'll only be able to browse Staff Picks and Collections, although you do have the ability to conducted a limited search (more on that below) and to watch the videos that are returned.

Once you link to your Vimeo account, you will also have direct access to videos you've uploaded and videos you've marked as Like and Watch Later, as well as the previously mentioned Staff Picks and Collections. Accounts are free, although you can purchase upgraded accounts if you plan to upload your own videos and need more space than the free account provides.

Vimeo on Roku also allows users to Like videos directly from Roku, or to add them to you Watch Later list, from the main menu. Careful, though, if you click "Like" or "Watch Later" on a video you've already liked or added to your watch later list, you'll cancel that action and unlike or remove the video.

Videos play full-screen. Pressing the Up arrow on your Roku remote will show the video timeline, bring up options to Like or Watch Later, allow you to view video details, and to see a list of all other videos available in the category you're viewing.

You can search videos through Vimeo's Roku app, but this is a poorly designed feature. Search results return a list of only 11 video titles with no image, date, summary or other information. Your best bet is to search videos on the Vimeo website, add them to your Watch Later list, and return to Roku to watch them on your TV.
