UrbanPix Quick Look: UrbanPix, whose tagline is Black Entertainment Media on Demand, claims to have "one of the world's largest libraries of independent urban, African American feature films, documentaries, shorts, web series & media content."

The UrbanPix Roku channel offers video libraries under the following categories of Feature Films, Original Series, and Short Films. The Feature Films library currently carries over 200 titles in the following genres:

  • Drama
  • Comedy
  • Family
  • Hip Hop
  • Documentaries
  • Music Biographies
  • Live Performance

In the Original Series library, you'll find episodes of three series: Heavy Sedation, Beat Makers, and Afro City. Most of the individual episodes are approximately 10 to 20 minutes in length.

The Short Films library currently offers only two titles, each less than a half-hour in length.

All Roku users can browse video titles and descriptions, but you will be prompted to sign up for $4.99 per month if you try to play a video.
