RokuGuide Review: The Smart.TV channel is a collection of six live and video-on-demand networks that can be purchased individually or as a package (descriptions were provided by Smart.TV):
(Review continues below the advertisement.)
Each network is also available as standalone Roku channel. Click on the links in the list above for information on each network.
Each channel has a live stream and video on demand. To get a feel for what's available on each channel, you can sign up for a free account at smarttv.com and link your Roku to your account. This will allow you to browse titles, but you can't watch any video. I suspect that this is a programming glitch, as each video's home screen has a "play preview" option and the video lengths are all shown as only 9 seconds. Trying to play the preview, however, results in a message that you need to login to your smart.tv account despite the fact that you must be logged in just to load the channel.
It's also not clear whether all clips are listed. The networks have only one to two dozen clips currently shown to unpaid subscribers, which certainly wouldn't be worth a recurring monthly subscription. Neither is it clear whether additional content will be added on a regular basis, and there is no "what's new" category.
If the topics interest you, set up a free account and preview the video titles. If you like the titles, the price of subscribing for one month to sample a network or two shouldn't break the bank.
