DisneyNOW

Quick Look: DisneyNOW, which replaces Disney Channel on Roku, combines content from three popular Disney Watch channels, Disney Channel, Disney XD, and Disney Junior, plus Radio Disney. The channel also includes live TV from the three cable channels, along with a number of Disney Channel Original Movies (DCOMs).

DisneyNOW is a TV Everywhere channel, which means that you must subscribe to a participating cable or satellite TV service in order to receive the live TV feeds and all of the on-demand content. However, there are a large number of unlocked videos available to all viewers, so the channel is worth installing even if you don't subscribe to a pay TV service.

The DisneyNOW home screen highlights new episodes of popular shows, lists your "favorites," and recommends shows to watch. The home screen also provides access to special collections - currently available are Halloween and Choose Kindness. For access to all shows, though, you'll need to select "Shows" from the menu at the top of the home screen. From there, you can get a list of all shows (A-Z) or filter by channel (Disney Channel, Disney XD, Disney Junior, or Radio Disney). The Shows screen currently has the additional categories of Shorts, Star Wars, and Marvel.

Under the DCOM menu selection, you'll currently find 13 Disney movies. Current offerings vary in content and genre with titles that include Kim Possible Movie: So the Drama, Zapped, Cadet Kelly and several offerings from The Cheetah Girls.

All DCOMs require that you authenticate with a pay TV service, but there are a lot of shorts and even full episodes of Disney shows available to everyone. To find unlocked shows, you'll have to browse through all of the shows and look for video thumbnails that do not have a key symbol on them. To authenticate with a TV provider, select any locked video or go to the Provider option under the Settings menu. Go to disneynow.com/activate on your computer or mobile device and enter the code shown in the DisneyNOW channel. You will then be asked to select your TV provider, after which you will be redirected to the TV providers website where you have to log in. Major TV providers that currently support DishNOW authentication include AT&T Uverse, Spectrum, Infinity, Cox, DirecTV, Dish, Frontier, Optimum, and Verizon. Many more local and regional cable systems are also included.
